Welcome From The Council Key-3

Welcome to the Pony Express Council Scouting Family.  If you have recently joined the Scouting program, we would like to be among the first to welcome you.  This year over 1,750 new families will join the Scouting programs across the Pony Express Council

Several hundred adults will also join the ranks as a registered volunteer leaders.  In all, the Pony Express Council has between 2,500 - 3,000 registerd volunteer leaders.  Please take the time and opportunity to particiapate in leader training.  Thousands have done so before you, and the training opportunities will only continue to grow.  A trained leader provides the BEST possible program.

Please be sure to visit our our website often to check on all the upcoming activities in the Pony Express Council.

Again, welcome to the Scouting program.

Good Scouting,

Welcome,

I would like to welcome you to the Pony Express Council of the Boy Scouts of America. I am both humbled and privileged to be the President of the Council. The Pony Express Council has a long history of commitment to the youth of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. That history would not have been possible without the hard work of the Council’s volunteers and staff. As the Council continues its tradition of service, I ask that you get involved and help. Everyone has skills that can contribute to the growth and development of our future leaders.

Nick Robb

I want to welcome anyone visiting this page with a reminder and an invitation. I wish to remind you of the mission and vision of the Boy Scouts of America. That is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Our vision is that the Boy Scouts of America becomes the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.

To do this, in the future, Scouting must continue to offer young people responsible fun and adventure; instill in young people lifetime values; and develop in them ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law; train young people in citizenship, service, and leadership;  and serve America’s communities and families with its quality, values-based program.

We are always in need of adult volunteers to step up to the plate to take on the various levels of commissioner. The concept of commissioner at any level is simple. A commissioner is a friend to a unit. He or she does for unit leadership what a friend would do. For instance: congratulating them for their successes, helping them understand how they can improve, and introducing them to a wide variety of resources, opportunities, and fun.

So my invitation today is to invite you to become a commissioner. Why should you become a commissioner? The answer, to fulfill the promise! Scouting has always stood ready to serve our nation. Helping out in our communities, doing our best to stand up for what is right in all ways and areas of life. A youth joins a unit because Scouting promises the excitement and adventure that prepares him to be tomorrow’s leader.

The key fulfillment of this promise is in the hands of people like you. Because of you, boys and young adults will stay in the Scouting program longer. You can unlock the door to Scouting’s adventure so that one day he will say, “It was all that I hoped for and more!”

Will you consider becoming a commissioner and be part of SHARING THE FRIENDSHIP?

If you are interested, feel free to contact me at …

Yours in Scouting,

Ben Ernst
