Wood Badge Course

Wood Badge- Scouting's Ultimate Leadership Training

Wood Badge, the “ultimate” adult leader training program, involves leaders in situations likely to be found in a typical Scout unit. The training is applied in a variety of activities as well as in-depth exploration of the role of the adult in developing youth through the Scout Program. Pony Express Council will be hosting a Wood Badge Course during the fall of 2015. The course will be held at Camp Geiger, just outside of St. Joseph, MO over two weekends:

  • August 20-22, 2015 & September 10-12, 2015

But Wood Badge is more than just mechanical course work. Wood Badge is the embodiment of the Scouting spirit. Like many intense training experiences, it has always relied on a busy schedule forcing the participants to work together, to organize and to develop an enthusiasm and team spirit to accomplish the tasks and challenges placed before them.

Carried out in context of Scouting ideals and service to young people, the course brings out a deep dedication and spirit of brotherhood and fellowship in most participants. Wood Badge  is designed to give Scouters the tools they need to provide the highest quality Scouting experience for the youth in their units. It is based on contemporary leadership and team building concepts, and is designed for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing leaders, as well as District and Council leaders.
