Biography

I am so excited and proud to have been selected to serve as your Scout Executive, working with and through your leadership to create Scouting opportunities and memories for young people.

During my years as a professional Scouter I have been asked a similar question from time to time by peole that I have met. The question asked , "Is Scouting still around." I am very quick to respond, " You bet it is and let me tell you what we are doing and where we are going"

As Scouters, I believe each of us has the responsibility each day to tell the Scoutng story, ask people we meet what they know about Scouting, and then ask them to get involved. Very rarely do peole come to us and ask to get involved. We have a great story to tell in Scouting and the powerful tools Scouting has to offer.

The committment of the volunteer leadership and the deep tradition here in the Pony Express council is deserving of itself to be told each day to our community leaders.

I am an Eagle Scout from troop 302 sponsored through Hayes United Methodist Church in Fremont,Ohio. Eagle class of 1982.

After graduating High School in Fremont,Ohio I attended and graduated from the University of Toledo, Toledo,Ohio earning a Bachelor's in History.

I entered Professional Scoutng in 1994, serving as a Distrcit Executive in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1997 I was promoted to Senior District Executive serving in the council's largest metro district.

In 1999 I was selected to serve as Field Director in the Black Swamp Council headquartered in Findlay,Ohio. The Black Swamp Council is a 13 county rural council.

In 2003 I was promoted to Director of Field Service in the Greater Cleveland Council, where I lead a professional staff of 12 individuals and 2 part time staff members to consistently achieve Quality Council status.

Hobbies include bow hunting, fly fishing, and personal fitness.

My wife Lauri is a graduate of The Ohio State University, majoring in Business and Marketing. Together we have two daughters. Soccer is a passion with our children and family.

Through your leadership, I look forward to continuing the successes and traditions of our council as well as creating and securing new community resources to increase our fundraising opportunites, grow our Scouting program, and take every opportunity to showcase Scouting's story to the communities we serve and ask people to get involved to part ofour successes.
