Climbing/Rappeling Instructors at Naish

Camp Naish (Bonner Springs, KS) - Two (2) members of Troop/Crew 21 volunteered to serve on the COPE/Climbing Staff at Camp Naish Mini-Camp over the weekend of October 12.  The day was sunny, cool and fast paced with 22 scouts and 6 leaders from various troops and crews climbing and rappelling.  The day started with tower rigging of the rappel and climbing lanes, followed by safety briefing, instruction, and fitting of harnesses.  Some scouts worked on their climbing merit badges while others were there for the fun and excitement.

Camp provided a lunch of chili dogs, chips, and cookies and the afternoon instruction included the C.O.P.E. High Challenge Course.  Most  participants were able to complete the high course and were rewarded with an exhilarating zip line through the trees from high atop the zip tower.

Troop/Crew has three (3) adult leaders trained as COPE/CLIMBING Instructors and one (1) senior youth as an Instructor in Training.  Truly a remarkable testament to the dedication Troop/Crew 21 has to provide our unit with the best and most well trained leaders in the Pony Express Council.
