Swimmin' Hole

July 2013 - Cameron, MO (Wallace State Park).  The scorching days of midsummer in Northwest Missouri call for one thing....swimming.  What better way to cool off than a weekend of camping and swimming fun.  Scouts from Troop 21 packed up and headed to Wallace State Park for a relaxing campout close to home.  After setting up camp, the scouts enjoyed a nighttime hike around Wallace and game of capture the flag before lights out.

An early morning flag raising ceremony followed by a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon prepared the troop for the day's main event, swimming in the lake.  The troop performed the necessary procedures for setting up a BSA safe swim area and selected swim buddies.  With the assistance of the troops newest BSA Lifeguards, the troop enjoyed a morning of swimming at the lake.  After lunch back at the campsite, the troop spend another three hours at the lake.  A delicious dinner of dutch oven pizza that evening and french toast on Sunday morning rounded out the fun.

Fun and relaxation made for a great weekend...nice shower facilities at the camp was a huge bonus after swimming and kept everyone clean and ready for more.
