Pershing State Park Hike

Brookfield, Missouri - Winter storm warning, freezing rain, howling winds, and eight inches of snow forecast? Not a problem for the scouts of Troop 21.  Scouts of the troop prepared for an great campout at Pershing State Park, the only remaining wetland/swamp in North Missouri for a campout and hike.  The night started with cold temperatures and wind and an early morning wake-up.  After a breakfast of pancakes and omelets for the scout patrols and a hearty Iron man breakfast for the adult leaders, the scouts and adults took off for a nine mile hike through the woods along the Riparian Trail along Locust Creek.  Fallen trees, muddy terrain, and wild critters did not dissuade the scouts from completing their mission of having a great hike and getting some rank advancement done along the way.  Always a great time and a good way to test the mettle of the scouts and leaders of Troop 21.
