Troop 21's Got Spirit

Camp Geiger, MO -  Roasting temperatures and brutally humid days could not stop Troop 21 from having another successful Summer Camp adventure.  25 scouts and leaders attended the 3rd Session of Camp Geiger this summer and had a blast doing so.  The troop camped in Osage Campsite along with two other troops from Nebraska.  The scouts took various merit badges classes and adventure programs such as Shotgun and Rifle Shooting, Indian Lore, Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE), Climbing, nature related badges and Eagle area badges.  Much time was spent at the pool for swim instruction, swimming merit badges, and free swim.  The troop had a Mile Swim award recipient and many early mornings for bird watching and other merit badges.  Overall the scouts completed over 60+ merit badges to add to their accomplishments and experiences that will last a lifetime.

The troop also contributed  two new Honorary Warriors, one new Hardway Warrior advancement, and two new braves into the Tribe of Micosay (Camp Geiger's Honor Camping Society).  Congratulations on their accomplishments and welcome to the tribe for the newest members.

The scouts worked hard every morning in preparing the campsite for inspection by cleaning the troop area, tents, gear and latrines.  Competing against all other troops in 3rd Session, the scouts of Troop 21 did very well during the daily inspections.

At closing ceremony, Troop 21 completed the week with many adult leaders earning the "Scoutmaster Merit Badge", 1st Place in Campsite Inspections (Clean Sweep Award), and won the highly coveted 3rd Session Camp Geiger Spirit Stick (awarded for overall scoring in scout spirit, uniforms, inspections, participation, and generally awesomeness. ;)

With a great summer camp completed, the scouts look forward to next years camp and the long journey of rank advancement and preparations that come with it.  Only 359 days to go before it's Camp Geiger time again!
