2011 Robidoux District Severe Weather Camporee

                                                                                                            April 15 – 17, 2011

                                                                                              Rosecrans Airport/Mo ANG Base

                   The 2011 Spring Camporee will be themed around severe weather emergency preparedness.  Locally, we           

get severe weather throughout the year, and as seen in Iowa, severe weather can strike at anytime, anywhere, even a scout camp.  The goal of this Camporee is to prepare our Scouts and Scouters for emergencies regarding severe weather.  Various local agencies will be involved to provide a hands-on learning experience, while also meeting requirements for the Weather Merit Badge.*  

 

            Friday April 15

  • Troops can check in anytime after 5pm.  Troops will be directed to their campsites at that time.
  • A leaders meeting will take place once all Troops are checked in and set up.

 

Saturday April 16

            8 a.m. – Flag Ceremony

            8:30 a.m. – Camp pancake and sausage breakfast.  (Any help would be appreciated, labor, griddles, etc.)

                        10 a.m.- Noon – Activities begin

                        Noon – 1p.m. – lunch break (Troops need to provide their own lunch)

                        1 – 3p.m. – Activities resume

                        3 – 5p.m. – Emergency Camp Breakdown Competition

                        5 – 7p.m. – Dinner (Troops need to provide their own dinner)

                        7 p.m – lights out – Special presentation by Virgle Reynolds/Free time

 

            Sunday April 17

                        9 a.m. Closing Ceremony

                        9:30a.m. – noon – Camp breakdown

 

                        Activities will include a re-enactment of a severe weather disaster, severe weather informational, hands on

            demonstrations of examples of first aid in severe weather, emergency camp breakdown competition, demonstrations             from the Red Cross, KQ2, Buchanan County Emergency Response, National Guard, SJFD, and the Sheriffs Dept. 

            All requirements for the Weather Merit Badge will be met except for requirement #9.  

 

                        The cost for this event is $10 per person, which includes camping, Saturday breakfast, and patches.  Your

            Troop is responsible for lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.  Please pre-register at the Council

            Service Center or Roundtable on Thursday, April 14.  Payments will be accepted at the event.
