Saturday, July 17, Camp Geiger hosted a Grand Opening Fun Day for the newly completed Shooting Sports Complex and COPE Course.  All Scout Leaders, Scouts, non-Scouts, and family members were invited to be a part of the ceremonies that began at 10am.

Prior to the ribbon cutting the crowd as addressed by Dirk Clark (Board President of the Boy Scouts of America Pony Express Council),  Robert Mazzuca (Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America) and Congressman Sam Graves (Eagle Scout and long time Pony Express Council member).

Also attending the ceremonies were Bill Falkner (Mayor of St. Joseph), R.T. Turner (Presiding Commissioner of Buchanan County), Dr. Richard Leet (past president of the Boy Scouts of America), Doug Palmer(Asst Camp Director of Philmont Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico), Dave Cornell (architect from the BSA), Dave Miller (Pro Sporting Clays Instructor and original course designer) and Alan Franks (our Scout Executive for the Pony Express Council).

After the ribbon cutting attendees enjoyed free rides down the 65 foot tall Zip Line.  A kids area provided by Crossman air riffles including BB guns, games, blow-up climbing events and rides, etc.  The newly constructed five stand, sporting clays course and 3D archery range also saw a lot of action from attendees.  Staff members provided free instructions for all courses also.
