New Changes to the Rechartering Process for 2014-2015

Changes in Rechartering

Effective January 1st, 2015

A change in the reporting of membership data on national reports will begin January 1st, 2015. Starting then, a unit that is not reregistered by its expiration date will be considered “separated” and immediately dropped from BSA’s membership reporting. There will no longer be what we now call a lapse period for units that do not register on time.

What does this mean? Well, if your Pack, Troop, or Crew has an expiration date of December 31st, 2014, then the paperwork must be finalized by December 31st, 2014. (Please keep in mind that it takes some time to process the charters) If the paperwork is not finalized by the beginning of the year, your unit becomes a “dropped unit”

Remember, the internet rechartering process is open 60 days in advance to your unit’s expiration. (Which means most will be in October.) Please also note, that ALL leadership that is registered must have a current Youth Protection Training (YPT) as required by the Pony Express Council.

If you have more questions, please contact your unit commissioner, your District Executive, or the Pony Express Council.
