Conclave 2008: A Great Success!
The 2008 Winter Conclave was held Saturday, January 5th and was
attended by more than 400 Tribesmen. The day began bright and early
with a medieval challenge to save a "fair" princess by completing
various quests throughout the day, including a huge jousting ring that
allowed Tribesmen young and old to "battle" each other. The morning
also saw a generous $1,000 donation to the Swimming Rock Lodge Fund
from the Five Rivers Dance Team.
Throughout the day Tribesmen also had the opportunity to take part in
various costume building skills such as bustle building, leather
working, bead working and hair roach building. All who attended were
also treated to a display of Tribal history by Medicine Man Sees The
Sun.
After dinner, Tribesmen gathered together for the traditional costume
and dance competitions, which saw some of the finest dancing costumes
for some time. Several young Tribesmen were even awarded various dance
coup by their District Dance Directors. Tribesmen were then able to
meet the 2008 Camp Geiger Staff, announced by Camp Director, Larry
Grantham and Program Director, Matt Becker. Finally, near the end of
the night, the 6th Patrick L. Newman Micosay Scholarship was awarded
to Runner Little Ho Ke Ya Pe, Daniel Gerhardt.
The 2008 Winter Conclave was indeed a success! Tribesmen rekindled
friendships, took part in medieval quests, and looked forward to the
coming camping season. And just remember, the Tribal Feast is only 4
months away!
