Pony Express Council’s 2010 National Jamboree Information Sheet

 

Registration Information:

· Register online at www.myscouting.orgExternal Link or by completing an application at   the Scout Office;

· Make $100 deposit or complete application for financial assistance;

· Participate in selection interview on January 10, 2009 at Camp Geiger –  call the Scout Office (816-233-1351) to schedule an interview time;

 

Important Jamboree Dates:

·  Leave from KCI on commercial flight Saturday morning, July 24, 2010;

·  Tour Washington D.C. for 3 days;

·  Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia from July 26th to August 4th

·  Tour Washington D.C. one more day;

·   Return to KCI on commercial flight August 5, 1010.

 

Washington D.C. Tour Highlights:

· Professional tour of Washington D.C. with transportation, hotel and meals;

· 3 days and 2 nights tour of Washington, D.C.

· Tours of Museums, Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson Memorials.

·  Tour Arlington National Cemetery (lay wreath at tomb of Unknown Soldier if available), World War II and Vietnam Memorials.

· Picture stops at White House, Capital Hill, Library of Congress, Supreme Court.

·Meal at Hard Rock Café

·Tours of Mt. Vernon, Ford'sTheater;

 

Jamboree Highlights:

·Spend 100th anniversary of Scouting with 40,000 other Scout from around the United States and her territories at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia

· Attend opening of Jamboree, two nights of stage shows with a likely visit from the President of the United States;

·See the most AWESOME fire works display ever.

·See the reenactment of Brown Sea Island and participate.

·Enjoy the action centers with activities from BMX biking, Shotgun, repelling, buckskin games, canoeing, sail boating, rowing, swimming, SCUBA etc,

·All Boy Scout merit badges offered.

·Conservation area.

· Fellowship with other troops and Scouts and lots of TRADING

· Mic-O-Say dancing with Bartle Scouts and other shows.

 


 

Cost:

· $2,600 per Scout

· Payment Plan (15 payments beginning January 15, 2009 to March 15, 2010)

· Financial assistance potentially available on need basis – complete financial assistance application available at Scout Office;

 

Troop Items Included In Fee:

· Air Transportation to and from Washington D.C.

· Charter Bus Tour throughout Washington, D.C.

·  All tour fees for all monuments, museums, etc.

·  Hotel in Washington D.C.

·  All meals;

·  Charter Bus ride to Jamboree;

· Tent for every 2 Scouts;

· Equipment used during camp including stoves, seating, flags, cooking etc.

· Charter Bus ride back to Washington D.C. and to airport for return trip home;

· Cost of truck to take equipment directly to Fort A.P. Hill

 

Personal items included in Fee:

· 2 100th Anniversary National Jamboree patches.

· 2 Council National Jamboree shirts and 1 hat;

· 1 100th Anniversary National Jamboree nametag.

· 1 Council National Jamboree day backpack.

· 1 Council National Jamboree duffle bag

· 1 Travel box for clothing and personal items

·  20 100th Anniversary National Jamboree council strip patches and MOS flap patch.

 

Pre-Jamboree Events Included In Fee:

· shakedown campouts with meals;

· COPE Experience for entire Jamboree Troop;
