From the Scout Executive……
Trained leadership is one key element to the retention of our youth in the Scouting program. Many times as Scout leaders we believe we have completed the training necessary to do our job well once basic training has been completed. In most cases, basic training will get us through.
However, I want to challenge and encourage those of you that have not completed the Wood Badge training to take the next step in doing so. Wood Badge for the 21st Century is a mountaintop experience designed to leave each participant with the skills needed to deliver quality Scouting at the den, pack, troop, crew or district level. The skills learned are applicable to everyday life-work or home. Wood Badge teaches each participant how to use the resources that you have and how to identify the resources available to you. I too have completed Wood Badge-course C04-01 and can say if was one of the best training experiences I have had. I think the reason it was a great experience for me was the fact that I had the opportunity to participate with Scouters that were my friends and make many new friends along the way.
I can personally say that after serving as your Scout Executive for the past 2 months, I have had the great opportunity to personally meet each of the staff members for the upcoming course and must say that the participants in this course will be very impressed with the quality and commitment in making this Wood badge course an experience to remember.
